About Harrison CPVC Duct

Engineered for the most demanding corrosive fume environments

Harrison's Corzan® CPVC duct pipe and fittings are manufactured from virgin, rigid chlorinated polyvinyl chloride with a Cell Classification of 23437 per ASTM D1784, in medium gray color. Extruded sizes through 24" feature seamless construction; fabricated (heat-formed) sizes extend up to 60" in round and are also available in rectangular or square configurations upon request. All products comply with SMACNA thermoplastic duct construction standards, and Harrison can also provide custom SMACNA-specified systems on project request.

Key Features

Why engineers specify Harrison CPVC duct

🌡️

High Temperature Rating

Maximum service temperature of 200°F — significantly higher than standard PVC — making it the go-to choice for hot chemical exhaust and process fume lines.

🧪

Exceptional Chemical Resistance

Resistant to most acids, bases, salts, aliphatic solutions, oxidants, and halogens. Consult Harrison's chemical resistance chart for specific fluid selection.

🔥

Self-Extinguishing

UL-94 V-0 flammability rating with a Limiting Oxygen Index (LOI) of 60% and Flame Spread Index below 25. Classified for Surface Burning Characteristics per ULC/ASTM E-84.

Non-Electrolytic

CPVC pipe is non-electrolytic, eliminating galvanic corrosion concerns and providing outstanding dielectric strength of 1,250 volts/mil.

🔗

Seamless Construction

Extruded sizes through 24" are of seamless construction. Fabricated sizes use a single butt-welded seam, thermally fused under computer-controlled temperature and pressure — no filler rod used.

📐

Wide Size Range

Extruded in sizes through 24" and fabricated (rolled) through 60" in round. Rectangular and square duct available upon request. Standard lengths of 10 ft. or 20 ft.

Installation Guidelines

Harrison field-tested recommendations for quality CPVC duct installations

🔧 Solvent Cement Method (≤ 14")

  • Do not cement below 40°F or above 90°F; avoid direct sunlight.
  • Remove all burrs; wipe surfaces clean and dry before joining.
  • Apply CPVC primer to both surfaces; confirm softening before proceeding.
  • Apply solvent cement immediately after priming — do not let primer dry.
  • Give the joint a quarter-twist once seated to ensure full fusion.
  • Consult your supplier for the best primer and cement for your environment.

🔥 Hot-Air Welding Method (> 14")

  • Use CPVC welding rod and welding guns available from Harrison (rental or purchase).
  • Clean all joint surfaces of dirt, oil, and contaminants before welding.
  • "Tack" each joint first with a hot-air gun to seat the gap and hold alignment.
  • Harrison typically welds each joint using three passes of 5/32" CPVC rod.
  • Avoid "cold joints" — ensure both surfaces and rod reach adequate fusion temperature.
  • Above 14", cement drying times are too slow for reliable solvent fusion.

📐 Square & Rectangular Duct

  • Always welded together or connected by bolted flanges — solvent cement is never used.
  • Available in PVC and Corzan® CPVC upon request.
  • Contact Harrison factory for details on custom rectangular or square duct.

⚠️ Important Notes

  • CPVC Corzan® pipe and fittings are NOT intended for underground use.
  • Not recommended for compressed air or compressed gas systems in exposed locations.
  • Square and rectangular duct: never use solvent cement — weld or bolt-flange only.
  • Always reference Harrison's chemical resistance data before material selection.

Hanger & Support Spacing

Harrison recommended minimum clamp specs and maximum horizontal support intervals
